what is sexy?

this whole topic brings up the point of what is sexy, anyway?

everyone has their own definition.

for me, it involves attraction, some mystery & suspense, a great voice, an undetermined level of interest, offset by references to vague future plans. that is sexy to me.

that was my conversation with my ex last night, we'll call him mr. busy.

ayiyi, yes, he is sexy.

of course i just spent 6 months getting over his sexiness. clearly, i think he's sexy.

I think a man with a quiet confidence is very sexy. I also like a guy with a sweet southern accent and dimples. I am a sucker for dimples. A guy who is a gentleman is also incredibly sexy.

I am all about the voice. And a slow burn smile. Quiet, intelligent, but knows how to have fun -- which might just mean an inside joke whispered into my ear, but makes us both laugh.

As for the physical definition of sexy though? See: Lowell, Mike (Boston Red Sox). Be still my heart.

I am checking here:

attractive - check
mystery & suspense - check to mystery, need work on suspense
a great voice - big check
an undetermined interest - check, got this with the Y chromosome... but what if it really is undetermined? Catch - 22
vague future plans - ah! I have to get on that, at some point, when I am not doing that other thing...

extra credit:
dimples - check

Did you know dimples were a single dominant gene? But I know of some people with one dimple. I don't know what happened there. I have two for the record.

It is harder for me to define what is sexy in a woman. Everyone else tries to define it for me. And every woman tries to fit that definition.

attraction, emotional strength, a genuinely open smile, a determined interest in me (but not too determined), kindness without exposed vulnerability, and most importantly intelligence; women with a great radio voice (NPR This American Life, not top 40 radio) can cross any two things off the list except intelligence and attraction

Of course attraction has 54 subcategories. Amazingly, for me at least, it is not a checklist but rather an aggregate. Everyone has their own beauty.
